About Us

The Mayflower Arts Center provides a community-friendly environment to create art, and enlighten and inspire a deeper appreciation of art among artists and patrons. Located prominently on the vibrant downtown square of Troy, Ohio—in the historic 1928 Mayflower Theater building—the Mayflower Arts Center offers gallery and exhibit spaces, classes and workshops, indie/art films, fine art retail, art lectures, performances and concerts. The Lobby Gallery presents work from local, regional, and national artists throughout the year.
Gallery Exhibits
Group and solo exhibitions are hosted in The Lobby Gallery (located on Box Office level) approximately every 5-6 weeks. If you would like to exhibit with us, please email Lisa Bauer, Owner at Lisa@MayflowerArtsCenter.com.

Arts Education
We offer a variety of classes and workshops for ages preschool through adult. Whether you are interested in beginning a new medium or immersing yourself in a favorite discipline, our skilled and talented instructors will happily teach you proper material, technique, theory, and the history of the subject being taught. Classes and workshops are offered year-round, but vary from quarter to quarter.

If you are interested in being an instructor at the Mayflower Arts Center, please download our Instructor Course Proposal Form (PDF).

Artist-In-Residence (AIR) Studio Apartment
We believe strongly that creating art takes time and dedication. Artists are invited to participate in our AIR Program for 1-3 month intervals. As an artist-in-residence of the Mayflower Arts Center, you have the space and freedom to create a fresh body of work, or complete others needing focus and attention. You also have the opportunity to conduct classes and workshops throughout your residence, as well as exhibit your work in our gallery space. Our Artist's Den Studio is located on the second floor and offers approximately 1,200sf of ample living and creative space. For more information about our AIR program, please contact Lisa Bauer, Owner/Director by phone or email.

Concerts and Performances
Since August 2014, we have added concerts and performances to our repertoire. Our 137-seat theater includes a modest stage for acoustic concerts and small-scale performances. From concerts to comedy shows, to radio theatre and guest lectures, our venue is perfect for gathering and entertainment. Our audience members have dubbed our space The Listening Room, as they feel sitting in the theater is very cozy and comfortable—much like sitting in your own living room.

We are always seeking to book talent for our venue. For more information, please contact Lisa Bauer, Owner/Director by calling 937-552-5848 or by email.

Film Screenings
Watching movies is a magical experience. Experiencing them on a big screen makes even more of an impact. Our cozy 137-seat theater features a 30' movie screen, digital projection, and surround sound. Thanks to a partnership with Proscenia Film Society, we are excited to be showing movies regularly at the Mayflower Arts Center! It is our goal to bring you well-made and thought-provoking features, indie films, and documentaries -- films that not only stir the soul, but ignite our creativity and imagination. Come experience the magic of the movies the way they were intended... on the BIG SCREEN! Our goal is that you leave seeing the world through a different lens. Visit our Coming Attractions page for current film schedules and screenings.

Facility Rental
Our studio, gallery, and main theater are available for lectures, meetings, and private functions. Our 400sf studio and upstairs Lobby Gallery are both perfect for private parties, small receptions, and creative get-togethers. Our main theater features a 30' movie screen, digital projection surround sound, and seats up to 137 guests. The remaining two theaters, located in the back of the facility, are scheduled to be remodeled into our multipurpose exhibition gallery and performance stage, once funds are available.

Event Hosting
From private shows, wine tasting and art films, to business meetings, receptions and birthday parties, we have several dynamic spaces to host your public or private event. To schedule an appointment, please contact the Mayflower at 937 552 5848.
