It's not often that an artist introduces both a film and an album of original music at the same event, but that's exactly what will happen on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at 7:00PM at the Mayflower Arts Center.Award-winning local filmmaker and musician Tim Gebard will screen his new documentary, The Fall League followed by an acoustic concert celebrating the release of his new CD, Better Angels.

The Film - The Fall League     Official Film Website  |  The Fall League Trailer
The Fall League captures the story of the Dayton senior slow-pitch leagues, but it goes much further, exploring the impact of the sport in regard to family relationships, the bonding and camaraderie between players, and topics of aging that are necessary considerations for active seniors. It highlights military veterans in the league, and explores the relationship between team sports and military experience. This is a “magnet” league which attracts players from Troy, Sidney, Tipp City, and Vandalia as well as Dayton, Cincinnati, Springfield and Columbus.

The movie was recently awarded “Runner Up” in the documentary category at the Indy Sports Film Fest Experience at The Arts Gallery of Ontario (AGO) Jackman Hall in Toronto, Canada. Festival director Aaron A. Weiss praised the filmmakers for crafting "a compelling story about one of the fast-growing populations in North America. This film about seniors is important in a society that can be seen to devalue its elders. It interweaves the theme of sports with issues of aging and health.  It shows us that we can enjoy life and have fun playing sports at any time in our lives.” The Fall League also has been accepted for Louisville’s International Festival of Film, which will take place in Kentucky in October.

The Concert - Better Angels EP Release     TimGebard.com
Tim Gebard is an international-award winning singer-songwriter who grew up in Springfield and now lives in Dayton. He started recording in 2010 with the album Unbroken Hearts, followed by the 2013 EP Closer to Gone. In addition, his original Motion Picture Soundtrack for The Fall League was released in 2014.

Better Angels is his third album of original material. This multi-genre offering includes songs with pop, R&B, rock, Americana and orchestral influences. A featured song is Fools In Love (Appalachian Conversation), a classic country duet with Erin Higgins (of Higgins-Madewell fame). “We’re really excited to perform at Mayflower Arts Center for this EP release,’ said Gebard.  “This event gives us a chance to release the new album, screen the documentary, and also do some quieter songs we don’t always get to play.” The instrumental versions of two songs – Fools In Love (Appalachian Conversation) and Spy Rock To Wayside Station – received songwriting awards in the 2014 SongDoor International Songwriting Competition.

About Tim Gebard
Tim Gebard is an Ohio native who grew up in Springfield and later moved to Dayton. Active in sports throughout his school years, he began playing softball at age 18 during his college years. After turning 40 and “aging out” of open league softball, he returned to playing in the senior slow-pitch league after a hiatus of 20+ years. He plays left field and manages in the Cuny-Zink American League, and also plays for three other senior league teams.

Tim is an international award-winning singer/songwriter who began his musical career at the age of 59. He’s released two albums of original music (Unbroken Hearts and Closer To Gone) and a live performance DVD (Unbroken Hearts – Live at the Clifton Opera House).
