Amy Jacomet
@ The Mayflower Arts Center Studio
Amy Jacomet is the owner of RevelationArt by AJ. RevelationArt by AJ is the result of a prayer posed to God. In this prayer, she was looking for a way to use her gifts and talents to glorify Him, while earning a little extra money to put toward paying off her first home. RevelationArt was His answer to her prayer. Each piece of RevelationArt has a personal message on the back. These messages are not Amy's, but come after prayer time with God and He releases what He would have on the back of each piece.

"I don't claim to have any special gifts or powers, because I don't. I am just yielding my heart to what God would have me to do. He gave me this idea and I chose to glorify Him through it. It is that simple. He wants to talk to His kids and this is just one way He is able. I do hope that you will check out the pieces and see if any of them are speaking to you. If they are, it usually means He is also trying to speak to you." ~ Amy

Exhibit: October 22 - December 20, 2014
Artist Reception: Saturday, November 15 @ 6:00-8:00pm; Artist Talk begins at 6:45pm.

The driving force behind my art is exploration. The search for and discovery of narratives or stories, defines my perspective on life. The intent of my work can range from the composition of a simple still life to a deeper undercurrent of social matters. I’m forever in a state of learning and observing for it is a role that well suits me.
~ Michael Glass

Michael Glass creates art in a studio, located at his home in Greenville, Ohio. He has been painting and drawing since the 1990s. He grew up in Westerville, Ohio and attended school in the town of Sunbury. He attributes his pursuit of fine art to teachers and friends exposing him to drawing and painting. He is also thankful for two loving parents who created an open environment to explore different types of art medium.

He studied at Columbus College of Art and Design 1993-1997. He recalls this as a very challenging and rewarding part of his life. His focus of study was visual communications. He had a strong love for illustration but also enjoyed the graphic design world.

Michael has worked mostly as a commercial designer for ad agencies and retail. His current position as a Senior Designer at Silvertowne in Winchester, Indiana carries duties of illustration, product design, graphic/ web artist. Up until today, exploring the fine arts has been accomplished by many late nights and early weekends of painting and drawing. 2014 Taste of Troy
September 13 @ 11:00-4:00pm; Downtown Troy
The event is held annually in downtown Troy to showcase local restaurants in the picturesque town square. Visitors can sample the culinary delights of thirteen hometown restaurants, listen to live music, shop at the Downtown Farmers Market, participate in beer and wine tastings, and visit dozens of downtown shops.

Expect to taste a wide range of food from a variety of independent restaurants including Italian, Mexican, classic American fare, locally grown and raised, and more.  New participants in this year’s Taste of Troy are Brittney’s Cakes, Little York Tavern, and Basil’s on Market.

“Tastes” for sale include a diverse array of menu items featuring up to three different offerings from each participating restaurant.

To satisfy a hunger for entertainment, several musical performances are scheduled for Prouty Plaza throughout the day. Slated to perform are A Sweet Sound, Megan Osman, Colin Richards, and Southbound.

“Troy is unmatched in the quality and quantity of independent restaurants for a city of its size,” observes Andi Trzeciak, director of Troy Main Street.  “The Taste of Troy provides an opportunity for people to sample signature dishes from a wide variety of restaurants while enjoying live music.”

Two downtown establishments, La Piazza and The Caroline, will offer wine and beer tastings on their respective outdoor patios.  The Downtown Troy Farmers Market will extend its hours until 2:00PM.

Admission to the Taste of Troy is free and open to the public thanks to the generosity of Gordon Orthodontics, the Miami Country Visitors and Convention Bureau, WYSO, and the Troy Tribune.

Open Mic Variety Night
August 23 @ 7:00-9:00pm; Doors open at 6:30pm

Tickets: $5.00/person to Play or Stay (available at the door)
Doors open at 6:30PM.

Furthering its vision to support local artists, the Mayflower Arts Center is adding Open Mic Variety Nights to its repertoire. The event is open to any and all who would like to perform. Solo and group acts may include, but are not limited to, music, improv, stand-up comedy, poetry, skits, or magic. The MAC is a family-friendly venue, so all content must be acceptable for all ages.

“We are very excited!” says Lisa Bauer, Owner and Director of the Mayflower Arts Center. “Having the new mini-stage in our main theatre allows us to flex the space for a variety of uses, including theatre and performance. This is all a small step toward our giant vision of renovating the original 1928 stage in the back of the building. Back in the day the stage was used for performance events including vaudeville acts. It is wonderful to get back to the Mayflower’s roots and showcase more venues now as an Arts Center!”

For the August 23 event, doors will open at 6:30 PM and the acts will go on from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. There will be a $5.00/person cover at the door (to play or stay). Upon arrival, artists will be able to sign up for a fifteen minute time slot that includes a five minute period to set up. Time slots will be given on a first come, first serve basis. If artists wish to secure a time slot ahead of time, they may sign up in person at the Mayflower Arts Center on Saturday, August 23 between 4:00-6:00pm with a nonrefundable $5.00/person deposit (in addition to the $5/person cover charge).

Equipment for the Open Mic Variety Night will be limited to only one microphone. Artists are welcome to perform acoustically or bring their own additional (minimal) equipment, as there will be a strict time schedule and each act will only have five minutes to set up.

There will be a raffle at the conclusion of the evening. Two (2) tickets will be drawn at random for prizes. You must be present to win.

For more information, please contact Lisa Bauer by calling 937 215 5257 or via email.

I’ve come to see these paintings as indicative of the human condition, a deep-seeded duplicity awaiting an ultimate unity.
~ AC Gosser

Aaron C. Gosser is a local fine art painter and studio arts instructor at Cedarville University. He sees himself as the tension of a kind of conjoinment, the interlocking of two natures diametrically opposed to one another. In this way, he has come to see his paintings as indicative of the human condition, a deep-seeded duplicity awaiting an ultimate unity.

Selected from the internet, the images that occupy Gosser's paintings are not perhaps in themselves meaningful. It is his hope however that in their selection, manipulation, and combination on canvas, that something new is discovered, some small tributary uncovered in the larger stream of image that the viewer can call his or her own.
